Map Description:

After a year of work, a caravan, and two waves of immigrants, the fortress is beginning to look like a fortress. Except for that raging wildfire.

Anthills maybe?

Hopefully none of your dwarves were locked out when the fires hit. That'd be a shame.

The pots are highwood trees... I don't remember what anthills look like in this tileset. I'm pretty sure all of my dwarves got inside before I locked the door and I haven't been getting any "Urist McDwarf burned to death!" messages, so they seem to be ok.

Δ Trade Goods Stockpile
Here's the main stockpile in the fort. Right now it's acting as a general stockpile, but eventually its sole responsibility will be holding trade goods to be transferred to the depot directly below. - Bluerobin427

Here's where we set up the farms. Our demand for food isn't currently very high, so they aren't as active as they could be, but there's plenty of room for expansion. - Bluerobin427
Δ Fire!
This is part of a wildfire started by a fire imp. In the attempts to wall off the surface of the magma pool one of the imps spotted the dwarf doing the construction and attacked and killed him. The dwarves of the fortress rushed to recover him, but the imp was still around and set fire to the brush as the dwarves ran back to the fortress. - Bluerobin427
Δ Fortress Gate
Luckily, we set up this gate as one of the first projects in the fortress. When the wildfire started, we decided it would be best to just bottle up and wait it out. - Bluerobin427 This poi has been favourited by 1 person.
Δ Trade Depot
Here's as far as most foreigners will get in our fort. The trade depot is close to the entrance, but still within the fort, just in case. - Bluerobin427
Δ Dining Room
This is our dining room. It's still largely under construction, but there are tables and chairs for most of the dwarves in the fortress and it's a room for us to go to between work. - Bluerobin427
Δ Food Stockpile
Across the hall from the dining room and next door to the kitchen and still is the food stockpile. Nice and central for easy access. - Bluerobin427
Δ Wildfire Beginning
In case you were curious as to how quickly and how far fire can spread, this is where the fire imp started the fire (and was very quickly thereafter struck down). The fire spread VERY quickly (it took less than 30 seconds game time at 100FPS to get to the main gate) and we just barely got inside and closed the gate before it got to us. In all honesty, closing the front gate is likely more useful to keep curious dwarves in than to keep fire out, since I can't imagine it would like burning stone. - Bluerobin427
Δ Workshop Space
Here's the hall where most of the manufacturing is happening. Mason shops, craftsdwarf shops, and a carpenter's shop, with a refuse stockpile behind the bonecarvers' shops. There aren't near enough dwarves to use all of these shops now, but there will be soon. - Bluerobin427
Δ Bedrooms
This is the main bedroom area. There's plenty of room below this complex for more expansion, so more rooms will likely follow this pattern but on floors below. Larger rooms on the sides are for nobles that we don't have yet, but are expecting in the near future. - Bluerobin427
Δ Forges
In the second wave of migrants we received a blacksmith. The spirits native to the area must have taken a liking to this dwarf, because he was quickly possessed. The forges were set up quickly, but placement is actually pretty good. Once we have the general state of the fortress under control, magma will be rerouted to this area and magma forges will be set up. Across the hall is a stockpile for ore and valuable stone. We'll see how this system works out. - Bluerobin427
Δ Burial Grounds
With the occurrence of our first death at the hands of the fire imp we decided we should designate an area for burial. Coffins are still being carved, but a small beginning to our burial grounds has been established. - Bluerobin427
