This dinning hall, the centerpiece of Soakstakes, is a massive dome made almost entirely out of obsidian blocks, save for the top, which is capped with nine blocks of kimberlite. The blue stone fills the dome with a muted violet, and makes it a very amiable place to eat. It took five years to complete, with my few companions.
It features four statues, the southern one a masterpiece; nine obsidian tables with matching chairs, and a pump fed, fresh water well, the only source of fresh water on this island. The well is something of a decoration, however, since on last count we had three thousand units of booze, and only eleven dwarves to drink them.
Now that it is completed, we will move our food stockpiles into the floor below the dining hall, where it will be safe from vermin. Once that is completed, we can begin work on the residential housing, and once we've completed that, we can move out of the dingy seaside cave we carved out thirteen years ago. Freedom!
