Since dwarves can walk diagonally, keep in mind that those four stone elements were all equidistant to the dwarf.

In Manhattan distance he picked up the farthest one, true.

If Dwarf Fortress processes objects the same way it does jobs, say for building walls (last issued = first done) then it was bound to take that one ONLY if there was no closer one.

Game-Generated Human Towers?

Human towers. A pool surrounded by pillars. Multi-Colored priests - one who is carrying crossbow. A blinking, exalted palisade (who is both missing and not missing toes and their left foot at the same time),whatever that is. A prisoner wandering freely outside. Soldiers galore. Has anyone seen or heard of any of this before in fortress mode?
