Fortress: Project Superbowl Shurikane

~Whippit~

An unexpected pride and joy of the community, Whippit is a death chamber wherein each weapon trap contains one, and only one whip. It was used against a human siege with... arousing results. The torture was so excruciating for the prisoners that it went on for one season and they actually leveled up!

The blueprints have been forwarded to the mountainhome and we highly suggest this sinister execution chamber be implemented in all outposts.

Fortress: Untitled Cobbling Of Assorted Crap 1053 (FY 3) Anonymous

"Business Front"

Another plot to keep the masons busy, I decided the fort needs at least a facade of impressiveness. Never mind that the front of the fort easily beats the "business end" by a reasonable margin, especially if we leave the dining room out of that equation. The roads being detailed is mainly just experience filler so I get masterpieces when I engrave the dining room again... show THEM to rate it only no title!!! Also, having the refuse stockpile for crafts overflow was a frightening and new experience for me. I actually had to build a second craftdwarf's workshop...

[05] - Cave Entrance

The entrance to the cave is near the top of the hill. Normally two of the Cyclopes are hanging around up here. I'm actually a little concerned that I don't see the other now....

[04] - The Hill

This is the base of the Cyclopes' hill. To the south of the hill you can see the two dead guards that arrived with the first caravan. They were defeated badly, but they managed to buy enough time for the caravan to slip past.

One of the Cyclopes likes to hang around near here as well, and you can see part of the cave that winds through the hill towards the caverns.

[03] - Main Floor

This is the main floor of the fortress at the moment. To the north of the ramps is some food storage, although it needs to be expanded, and we need more barrels.

Directly south of the food storage is a hallway with the food industry along it and a dining hall at the end. It currently only seats 12, but it's better than nothing.

To the east is the residential wing. The stairs lead down into a similar pattern of rooms. We have a total of 22 bedrooms, as well as the 7 beds in the barracks.

To the west is the industry wing. It currently only has rooms for masonry, carpentry and crafting, but could be expanded downward very easily.

[02] - Entrance Floor

This floor originally served as a place to sleep for the original 7, but the beds along the north wall have been converted into a temporary barracks. The three square patches (only one of which has actually been dug out) are for farms. The water in the south-east corner is from a mistake I made when digging them, that resulted in some minor flooding.

The original trade depot was in the room to the south, which now stands empty. The room with the two statues is the office of the expedition leader/broker/etc.

The two sets of ramps down lead into the main body of the fortress.

[01] - Ground Level

An overview of the ground level of the fortress. Has a small wall and moat, as well as two mini-towers (1 z-level). Most of the stockpiles are still out here, if only because I haven't had time to move them inside yet.

As you can see, the cats have been busy massacring various vermin. I keep having to move and add onto the refuse stockpile to keep it out of the fortress :P

To the north is the new trade depot. I built it so we could funnel the traders, since the last batch decided to walk right past one of the Cyclopes to the south. The two levers control the bridges.

The three ramps one tile north of this PoI lead down into the fortress.

Zoos (kind of :P)

Well, these are zoos. The top one has a titan, whom I thought I could let go and let roam in his little area, but he was soon butchered by my archers :(

The bottom area features a Dragon in a cage (in the center, hidden by that Donkey) and a Titan in a cage (top-left), lots of people like partying there.

Zoooooom

An expanded view. I can't decide if I want to square off the second hill and use it. I still need to build the bridge between them and seal it off from archery attacks. Maybe I'll make it a nobles suite.

Zoomed-out stalactite housing

Or stalagmite, maybe. Whichever the down-pointing ones are.

My goal was to get the cavern ceiling, which took goddamned forever to designate out, to be covered in these stalactites, the biggest of which serve as housing. 10z of housing per stalactite, 5 stalactites, 2 rooms per floor, 2 dwarves a room (they're all married, believe me) = housing for 200. Then I'll give everyone some windows with mini-balconies so they look wicked in the visualizers. I have extra space, but I'm going for equality.

Once I get everybody up here, I can take down the temp-housing block and build the noble's palace there.
