Garbage disposal

Beneath the kitchens, garbage is dumped into the air-locked garbage pile, then into a minecart, then (via a dwarf guiding it, into a shaft which terminates in the garbage see). A much more secure and hygienic way than leaving it lying around on the surface. The minecart will eventually be automated and powered (currently way down the to-do list).

Magma glass forge

The CL1 magma glass forges.

Operational in Autumn 263, the new forges move glass production from the original magma forges near the 3rd cavern layer to a new location near there source of sand. Sand extraction and storage is a few levels up, pearlash storage is the floor below (along with magma ducting). Sadly no rock crystal has been located yet.

The clear glass windows to the north will eventually look out onto the cavern and CL3 magma lake (when completed).

Obsidian factory

This level: magma inlets, rough obsidian stockpile, dedicated obsidian producing masons shops.

2 levels up are the water inlet and the control room. Obsidian production is halted for now as the entrance and roadway are completed.

2nd Cavern Layer

A section of the second cavern has been walled off to be joined to the upper level for fort expansion.

Lake entrance

The completed lake entrance. The drawbridges here are not a reliable defence as the lake freezes typically at about the time the Goblins turn up. On the other hand our army of highly trained, masterwork steel clad killing machines are a very reliable defence.

1st Cavern Layer

263 - The fort is mostly contained in and around the first cavern layer. Around the walled of section of cavern are the crafthalls for the masons, leatherworkers, woodworkers, the food hall, clothiers hall and stairs to the dining hall and living quarters and old fort (soon to be removed).

Spiral ramp base

The bottom of the spiral ramp. It's probably not far from the caverns now. I'm waiting to get the military re-organised before going down any further, but soon I will be needing magma.

Stone working hall (lower crafthall)

The lower craft hall. Location of the stoneworking industry, I've left 2 rooms free for expansion. Raw material stockpiles are below.

Forge

The forge. As you can see I like quantum stockpiles.

Metal bars go 2 floors down to the sorting stockpiles. Raw materials are stored in the room to the north. The level below is left clear for the later installation of magma.

Apartments

A room for every dwarf... Eventually. For now, founders are in the slightly larger northern rooms, everyone else gets a 2x2 cell with high quality bed, cabinet and chest.

Enough rooms have been dug out now and the Masons and Carpenters are working to produce enough high quality furnishings.

East is the Mayors apartments.

Fort

The main fort, now rebuilt in (mostly) stone blocks. After the werebeast wallclimbing incident last year replacing the rough wooden wall with a harder to climb stone block one was a priority.

"Great" hall

The not so great hall. It'll do until something better can be planned, though it is starting to get crowded when dwarfs are idle.

On the levels below are food production, above are the barracks, archery range and captain of the guards quarters.

Surface Compound

The main compound is constructed from the limitless supply of wood DF02014 provides. The large hole is the location of the cave in used to pierce the aquifer and will be the surface entrance to the fort.

Obsidian factory floor.

The obsidian factory is ready for an early 261 first run. The lower floor shown contains the obsidia farm to the North (floodgates, currently lowered, control access), the obsidian stockpile and masons workshops are for rapid production of obsidian blocks.
2 floors up are the control room and water reservoir.
