Windtactics - 1061 Early Autumn by heXad

Map Description:

The fortress is now almost impregnable to assault, and with the completion of more weapon traps the dwarves are only worried about the arrival of certain megabeasts.

When the magma pump stack is completed there will be a reservoir and trap system for titans in the courtyard.

Cool tileset which one is this? Also nice screw pump assembly. What were you pumping with this setup?

Δ 47. Top level pumps
This pump stack pumps water from the living quarters, in the event of flooding. It is powered by a waterwheel on the river. - heXad
¶ 46. Courtyard
The main courtyard, protected by moats with retracting bridges. In the courtyard is also the Trade Depot, Butcher, Kennels, Tannery, Ashery, Soap Maker's, and Leatherworks. - heXad
Δ 46. North Bank Reactor
This water reactor powers the pump arrays on the riverbank. It was previously powered by waterwheels, but enemies kept tearing them down. - heXad
Δ 46. North Gate
Most enemy traffic comes in here for some reason. The gate consists of two atom smashers facing each other, the south one raised into wall position. This defense works extremely well at trapping and smashing invaders. - heXad
Δ 46. South Gate
This gate, one of two a wagon can take, is protected by weapon traps and by a raising bridge that becomes a wall. The walls on the right hand side consist of two atom smashers. This is also the main dump - the dwarves use the atom smasher to eliminate trash. - heXad
Δ 46. Surface Farm
This farm produces the surface crops for the fortress. - heXad
Δ 45. Burial Chambers
The crypts have expanded, sadly, but that's the price of fortress defense. - heXad
Δ 45. Dungeon
The cells are for dwarves, the cages for captured enemies. - heXad
Δ 45. Guard Captain's Quarters and Militia Barracks
The Captain and his militia operate from this barracks. - heXad
Δ 45. Underground Farm
This farm produces the underground crops for the fortress. To the left there is a farmer's workshop, a still, a kitchen, a loom, and a quern. - heXad
Δ 44. Living Quarters
The ever more extensive rooms on this level house most of the fortress population, save those who are imporant enough to rate their own higher quality quarters. - heXad
Δ 44. Main Plumbing Intake
This is the intake for the fortress plumbing system, still under construction. It is fed from the river above via hatches that are linked to a lever. - heXad
Δ 44. Meeting Hall / Baths
This meeting hall is here mainly to get dwarves and animals to cross the baths to get here, which eliminates the chief source of slowdown in the game - excessive contaminants. - heXad
Δ 44. Primary Wood and Stone Production
The north room has two masons, a mechanic's workshop, and a clothier (because there was room for it). The southern room has three carpenters workshops. - heXad
Δ 44. Well and Cistern Access
This is the main well for the living quarters at the moment. It draws from a reservoir which is fed from hatches under the moat above. - heXad
Δ 43. Bookkeeper's Quarters
With the bookkeeper keeping perfect records, he needs these quarters with an attached office to maximize his time.

He's also a legendary bonecarver in his spare time, and responsible for 90% of fortress-made exports. - heXad
Δ 43. Crafting and Gem Industry
Mostly just the legendary bonecarver these days. - heXad
Δ 43. Hospital and CMO's Quarters
The Chief Medical Officer gets decent quarters for his endless medical laboring. - heXad

Δ 43. Metalworking Industry
Four smelters, a wood furnace, and six forges. - heXad
Δ 43. Refuse Pile
This pile is huge and getting bigger faster than our legendary bonecarver can create top-quality crafts. - heXad
Δ 38. Main Reactor
The big reactor produces 1000 uristpower, which each of the two small pup reactors produces 200 uristpower. This power is needed to drive the lengthy magma pump stack below. - heXad
Δ 37. Magma pump stack - top
This pump stack when completed will draw magma up from the magma level all the way to the metalworking industries, which will then be converted to run on magma. - heXad
