Udibgigin - 1052 Early Spring by SergiusMaximus

Map Description:

This is my latest fortress. I follow a very strict pattern for fortress building, it's probably quite boring in fact, I suppose I'm just a bit obsessive.

First I dig a tunnel, should be 5 wide, up to the river. From there I make a narrow bridge, a bit out of the way (so the dwarves won't use it after the real one is eventually built and it can be safely demolished). I scroll a bit either up or down and continue my 5 wide tunnel (this time with doors) till the chasm, and go back to the original height to get to the magma.

I also religiously dig 5 tiles on each side of the river/chasm/magma/whatever.

I'm jealous of dwarves and forts who take the time to organise their ore piles into colourful bands. Neat job so far!

I assume by kernel you mean Kennel; that's a handy way to clear an area, very modular :) modular is good.
