Δ 95. Tower of the Lake (Cross-Section)

This tower rises up out of the dwarf-made lake. It is still incomplete, but the plans are to reach as high as possible and make a massive statue garden on top. All the levels of the tower above the water level will have statues by the hundreds in them as well. This tower is the center of the grand plan for our fortress, Skullgrass. - EmeraldWind
Δ 27. Brook to Lake Waterway (Cross-section)
This is the vertical shaft we made to use the brook to fill up the lake. Our initial attempt failed and we learned something. Stairs do NOT make good passages for water to flow to build up pressure. We had to drain the Waterway and dig through ice to get rid of the stairs. - EmeraldWind
Δ 163. Fimshel Rodemlidod Onamcim's Last Stand
This is where the Hydra, Fimshel Peltwasted the Larval Juice met Skullgrass's militia squad, the Syrups of Evenness. The battle was one of many fought in this spot, but is currently the most recent triumph of the fort. - EmeraldWind
Δ 163. Statue Garden
Here used to stand a nice outdoor statue garden. It was made to prevent cave adaption from taking hold of the dwarves of Skullgrass. Unfortunately, during sieges some dwarves would want to go to the garden only to find a bunch of trolls waiting. Even telling the civilians that it was a restricted burrow had no effect. So for safety's sake, we disposed of the garden. We then planned to make the top of the Tower of the Lake a statue garden instead. Right now the tower isn't finished yet. - EmeraldWind

This tower was built entirely from the stone that the dwarves of Skullgrass unearthed. From a distance it appears to float on the lake's surface. This lake is formed by a dam built around the same time as the tower was begun. This lake was one of the first projects that was planned for this fort. It was a challenge and took many years to complete, but now it stands as a testament of the tireless work of the dwarves. There are two entrances to the fort in here. One is a shorter path, but can only be crossed if one can manage to not set of the pressure plates. - EmeraldWind
Δ 163. Trade Depot
This mini fort was made to protect the depot and a second entrance was made to the fort from here. Originally, water was pumped into a reserve in case goblins got in. But once long ago, the elves came to trade. A lone donkey was on the drawbridge when it was hoisted to protect the elves from an incoming siege. The elves refused to trade with us despite us saving their lives. The broker, Pink Netrings, was so furious she closed the emergency hatch and opened the floodgates. The elves learned a lesson that day, never... ever... refuse to trade with a dwarf, we trade out of courtesy... if you do show us courtesy back... we simply pick what we want after it dries. - EmeraldWind

When anyone, whether man, dwarf, elf, or otherwise arrives at Skullgrass, they must enter here. Anyone may cross these bridges and enter the tower in the middle of the dwarf-made lake, we do not discriminate here in Skullgrass. (However our traps do.) Currently, we are working on a Silver Block Road for travelers to follow here and it will be completed as soon as the Wood Cutters remember how to USE THEIR AXES. - EmeraldWind
Δ 156. Brook to Lake Waterway
This Waterway was used to fill up the dwarf-made lake here at Skullgrass. This was actually the easiest part of the whole operation. Granted, other unforeseen problems came up and delayed the filling of the lake by two years, but the job was eventually finished. - EmeraldWind
Δ 156. Dakas, God of Rain and Rainbows
This room is a statue garden filled with statues of the great Dakas. We named our group to please him, though nowadays there are dwarves here that no loner worship Dakas we intend to make it know he continues to be our biggest influence. (OoC: I didn't notice that my dwarves had a favorite deity, let alone a god of rainbows, when I decided the theme naming... it was completely unexpected.) - EmeraldWind

This stairway leads through the special access route of the tower. This stairway extends from the bottom of the tower to the top. Skullgrass's residents and allies can use this for the quickest access in and out of the fort. - EmeraldWind
Δ 156. The Point of Embark
This is the exact spot the original seven founders set up their wagon of supplies. Once upon a time, it was a mere hollow and the wagon did not end up here by any accident. We assure you this was what we planned and it did not simply roll down here and get stuck. Um... then we dug the main entrance right here at this point. It was right there and then that we were inspired to make the Tower of the Lake... we only realized later we were going to need a lake for our lake tower... - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Bedroom: Duke White Pulleyquake
This is the bedroom of Duke White, our resident noble. He came to this fortress as a humble migrant, but quickly rose to power. He became the first mayor of Skullgrass (who could forget his touching, "Vote For Me" campaign) and held the position constantly until he was chosen to be the Baron. Since then he has occasionally filled in the mayor position when he decides to run and has held the position no less than eight times. - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Bedroom: Founder Blue Keyshowers
This is the apartment of the founder Blue. She is a Brewer by trade and produces most of the fort's alcohol. She isn't well-known around the fort socially, she prefers to keep to herself and perfect the alcohol that the fort needs to survive, but she still make time to meet up with the other founders from time-to-time. - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Bedroom: Founder Green Wheelwatchful
This room is the quarters of the founder, Green. He is a Planter by trade and is the lead farmer in the fortress, he was the first to til the mud and plant the fortresses farm. Green is very close with fellow founder Violet, but despite being together for about as long as fellow founder couple Red and Indigo, they have yet to tie the knot. - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Bedroom: Founder Indigo Bridgebalanced
This is the old quarters of the founder Indigo. She is a miner by trade. Her and her husband, Red, were the miners of the group and as such slowly became closer to each other as they made beautiful rooms together. Together they had carved out almost 70% of the upper layers of Skullgrass. Marriage has suited Indigo and Red rather well and they enjoy their time with their two children. - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Bedroom: Founder Orange Shieldraven
This is the bedroom of Orange the Expedition Leader of the original founders. Orange is a Mechanic by trade, with her cheery demeanor and optimistic outlook kept the original seven hard at work even in the tough times. To this day the founding seven are close friends (some closer than others) and this can only be attributed to Orange. It was Orange's idea to make the two dining rooms behind the waterfalls as she thought it would be the perfect way to spend hot summer days. - EmeraldWind

This is the room of one of the original founders of Skullgrass, Red. He is by profession a miner, is 95 years old, and has married his long time companion and fellow founder Indigo Bridgebalanced and currently has two children. - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Bedroom: Founder Violet Ectoclasps
This is the room belonging to the founder Violet. She is a mason by trade and is the carver of the fortress's many statues of Dakas. She helped design the Tower of the Lake as it stands today and is currently working on making statues for the very top of the tower. She is very close fellow founder Green. She does deal with her emotions very well and can't quite tell Green how she feels as a result she spends a little too much time pouring energy into her work... maybe once the tower is complete she will have free time to settle down a bit. - EmeraldWind

This room belongs to Yellow, a member of the founding seven. She is a woodworker by trade and is often quiet and reserved. She was friends with the Expedition Leader Orange at the time the founders set out. Yellow was the dwarf responsible for the original layout of Skullgrass in terms of design and she also was the first to suggest building the Tower of the Lake. - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Dwarf: Sky Inkyhealed
Sky was one of the first dwarves drafted into the squad, Syrups of Evenness. Unfortunately, he injured his foot early on and has been bedridden ever since. He spends half his time sleeping and the other half... well... he's married to Plum Strokelanterns and has 10 children, you figure out what he does when he's not sleeping. - EmeraldWind
Δ 152. Lower Waterfall Dining Room
This dining room is the second dining made with this premise of being able to dine and enjoy the soothing waterfall at the same time. You'll notice there are grate blocking anyone from falling. There once was a dwarven child named Gray, who like to sit on the frozen waterfall... it melted, he plunged to his doom, and ended haunting the fort for months. He was the first loss of life here at Skullgrass. Eventually, we were able to build a staircase and retrieve his body and his soul seems to rest peacefully now. - EmeraldWind

This is the tomb for this vast fortress. Many have fallen in its name, but all died honorable and occasionally... unnecessary deaths. There are tombs prepared for the founding seven, Duke White, and another for the Queen should she ever chose to die here. - EmeraldWind

Here the dwarves of Skullgrass attempted to carve out the history of the world. It purpose was decided before the expedition even set out from the mountain homes. Here lies one of the original goals of Skullgrass. - EmeraldWind
Δ 150. Udil the Dwarf and Abli the Ettin
Here you find engraved on the wall is an image of Udil Breachmachine the dwarf and Abli Sculptedsister the Action of Control the ettin. Abli Sculptedsister the Action of Control is striking down Udil Breachmachine. The artwork relates to the killing of the dwarf Udil Breachmachine by an ettin in the Walls of Teaching in 9.

This event is depicted close to a hundred times within these walls, but search all you will you will never see an engraving depicted how we dwarves got our revenge. I tell you, this very ettin died right here in Skullgrass in an epic battle against the Syrups of Evenness. - EmeraldWind

I admire how you created an artificial lake to flood around the entrance to your fort :)

Like I say here and there, after I found my embark wagon at the bottom of the ditch... I decided right there and then I wanted the entrance of my fort to eventually become what it has. It took a good bit of work and much Fun was had. I learned some things the wiki doesn't yet explain... for example, stairs stop water pressure and I had to wait until a couple winters later to fix the problems that came up because of that. But like I said, twas Fun.
