• 37. Welcome to Shadestandard!

  ( 202 Early Spring to onwards )
  Shadestandard was a fortress founded in a pretty unremarkable area. The dwarven prospectors said that the area was rich in "deep and shallow metals", but nothing of value was actually found.
  
  Instead, very shallow caves makes this point an easy access to the underworld, if the dwarves so wish to take that plunge. - Caranha

• Δ 38. Well Defended
  The military was largely expanded in 204. Two squads of Marksdwarves, one squad of Silver Hammerdwarves, and one squad of Adamantine axedwarves.
  
  Not all squads have their full set of armor, but they are not able to easily handle the normal goblin ambush. - Caranha
• ¶ 37. Project River Reactor: Failed

  In order to bring magma to the surface, the dwarves need power. This was an attempt to cover the river, to prevent its freezing, and thus allowing for waterwheels to be built.
  
  It didn't work, obviously -- will it be necessary to bring magma to the surface to bring magma to the surface? - Caranha

• Δ 37. The dead walk!
  A horde of undead approached the fortress and laid siege to it.
  
  Fortunately, the fortress was saved by... a goblin siege! The gobbos and the undead fought for the right to siege my fortress, and when all was said and done the remainders were easily mopped by my militia. - Caranha
• 35. General Farming Area

  ( 202 Early Spring to onwards )
  Houses most of the "brown" industry -- my dwarves basic diet is alcohol and eggs, with eventual meat of the unlucky migrand beast. - Caranha

  Beddings for the unspecialized or unassigned dwarves. - Caranha

• Δ 34. New Water Supply

  ( 205 Early Spring to onwards )
  The previous water supply represented a flooding risk to the fortress, so it was replaced by this unfloodable one. - Caranha

• 37. The great Sand Railway!

  ( 203 Early Spring to onwards )
  Sand is collected by the least skilled dwarves, put in the minecart, and then sent to the legendary glassmaker in the bowels of the earth.
  
  So far, two dwarves were hurt in this project -- a miner who decided that digging the lower half of the shaft before the upper half was a great idea, and an engraver, hit by a pile of falling sand bags (the engraver survived). - Caranha

• 37. The Original Wagon

  Since I don't lack in trees, I decided to leave this here. Eventually, I hope to build a cool shrine around the wagon. - Caranha

  Here criminal dwarves can ponder on their sins, while looking at the story of the fortress, written on the walls. - Caranha

  Statues adorned in jewels and exotic beasts allow tired dwarves to relax. - Caranha

• 36. Dorf Training Grounds

  ( 203 Early Spring to onwards )
  The former "leave everything I don't know where to put" area is being slowly transformed into my military complex.
  
  The marksdwarves are still hesitant to use my metal bolts for patrolling, but I'm slowly convincing them otherwise. - Caranha

• 34. Medical Burrow

  ( 203 Early Spring to onwards )
  Medical Burrow under construction, was completed later in 203, and now all medical-related dwarves are safely tucked away.
  
  Unfortunately, this was not completed in time to save my Chief Medical Dwarf, the only one who had any actual diagnostics skills.
  
  I still hope my bone setter will do a decent job in his place. Go bone setter! You can do it! - Caranha

• 32. The Cripts

  I want to do something cool here, I just don't know what.
  
  The smaller wing is for pets. - Caranha

• Δ 12. Project Obsidian

  ( 205 Early Spring to onwards )
  One of the engineers had this amazing idea: Since the magma sea is right under a large underground lake, if we could punch the lake, theoretically it would freeze the magma sea into obsidian, and allow us access to the adamantine spire.
  
  It didn't quite work out, and one child died in the process. - Caranha

• 14. Magma Forges Burrow

  ( 203 Early Spring to onwards )
  This was the first completed specialist area, with room and food for my smelters, metalcrafters and glassmakers.
  
  That said, due to the lack of metal in the map (and the gobbos killing the dwarven caravans), there is not much that can be done here yet. But it is ready! - Caranha
