Map Description:

I will play once a year as a tribute to the creators, until death.

By controlling the slopes and removing the upward slopes on many z levels down to the river (the fortress is what 10 level above the river), I managed to create "predictability" in terms of where the beasts will be coming from. Now a dragon of fire burned the bridge leading away from the fortress and this outside zone is not very much frequented at the moment, there was also a forest fire. I was waiting to confront the dragon be he couldn't fly across the trench so he wandered around... Finally a wave of migrants killed him lolllll but it was a big big wave and many were lost in the process... it happened quickly and the dragon took damage from his own fire loll. Three Forgotten beasts have tried in vain to undo the dwarves but they prevail (for the moment, this is DF) A water beast died in the caves after I shut tight a floor hatch I had installed leading down. A cave spider beast was killed digging the moat leading to the new dining room... where it came from I have no idea, now I have many top dwarves in the hospital and I depend on the caves for water which I have to close down if beasts come forward. What a drag.

Nevertheless this is it.

Main fortress is z=130; river is z=122
z=131 is a surprise in the making... building a staircase to the top... there's a platform above the volcano top... perfect for a Pit/pond zone to drop stuff... like caged enemies... a long time I made a fortress with a lava moat and I dumped a goblin in it... well we all died. There was a fire and smoke and it splashed all over. Now I want to do this... but "safely"... also there are vampires hidden in my fortress... and if I catch them there will be a huge Blot like in Crusader Kings... yeah that's right baby!
