I have no idea what happened but for some reason when I compiled this in the map compressor it ended up a mess. Oh well.
You can still sort of see what I'm doing here. I started carving out the basic shape of the fort.

did you export the images from fullscreen and then compress it "not-fullscreen"?

Dakira has it about right Mido, you've exported the map from the game after running at a stretched/fullscreen mode, meaning the bitmaps are distorted. When the map compressor tried to compress it couldn't figure out what the tile size should be, and so its gone funky.
Run DF in 'windowed mode', export the bitmaps, then run the compressor.
