Abbeytunneled - Glacier Fortress
My primary focus during the first year has been melting some ice to fill up a reservoir and to start farming. I have managed to accomplish this goal on my third attempt, losing my two previous expeditions in the first year.
I am trying to build the fortress with a larger plan in mind from the outset; so far, I have build what will be the central access shaft. I was pleased to see that the magma pipe was capped with obsidian but still visible. It keeps the magma creatures at bay but allowed me to find the pipe with minimum effort.
Year two will focus on filling out the main entrance shaft, establishing basic defenses, and plotting the remainder of my fortresses layout.
This is and will be the primary shaft, likely the only shaft, leading from the surface into the fortress.
Longterm: Shaft will be placed within a large hollow space spanning the entire height of the fortress. When under siege, bridges connecting the fortress to the shaft will retract, forcing invaders into the lowest level where the defenses will be located. - Charrat
