The goal for this fort is to create a gigantic tree in which the dwarves live. For now, only the "roots" of the tree are finished. The roots go all the way down into the lowest level. There are approximately 30 Z-levels available to build the tree upwards. This is thanks to the nearby volcano/mountain.
Unfortunately, I doubt I'll have the patience to finish this project, because my FPS averages in the 20's and 30's with only 50 dwarves. I will definitely write a story about it at some point. The idea will be that the dwarves came upon a gigantic, hollowed out and dead tree, and decided to turn it into a fort. They will make "leaves" out of green glass floors and so on. But don't worry--they still hate elves. ;)
