I really tried to use the rivers and canyons to make pleasing effects with water, waterfalls, and water pressure.
Water falls into the moat from above on the lower right and left sides, as well as directly to the left and right of the bridge - misting my dwarves every time they pass. You can see the mist over the water from the waterfalls. Go up one level to see where the water falls from. The walls of the moat have openings to let water into the river below - keeping the moat at a stable depth. The moat is many levels deep, and tapers into a central drain into my sewers. - ColdSnickersBar
