A fortress designed with the goal of conquering the adamantine.
I started out digging a temporary fortress early on. Unfortunately, while digging out this temporary fortress, I struck adamantine. I quickly stopped the miners, but the queen arrived almost immediately. Since it was still so early in the game, I had a hard time building a nice room for her, and she went insane fairly quickly. I also spent far too long building my entrance and associated defenses, and as a result lost around 50 dwarves total to sieges.

Not only do I like the layout of both the fortress proper and the temporary fortress, it gives me an idea. All that empty space in the entrance cave? Imagine that a pit. There would be an underground tower that leads to the fortress proper in the bedrock.
I must try this. Now.

You should mine out around the adamantine, just to get an idea about the layout.
