Lanternattacks - 304 Early Spring by sneakeypete

Map Description:

The first of the yearly* updates of Lanternattacks.

The first year has been slowish. I choose a spot for my fort, and dug in. I spent most of spring and part of summer setting up irrigation for my farms.
Autumn brought the merchants, and i traded away some mechanisms for food and drink. I also did a bit of metalsmithing, and made a set of swords and shields, as well as some extra picks, which i gave to some of the small band of migrants i received in late Autumn.

In winter, a band of Orcs attacked. Although a moat was dug, the Orcs bought a bowman that could have been rather tricky to dispose of. Luckily a kobold stole his arrows out of his quiver! After that, they were easily disposed of by the crossbowdwarf that had come with the migrants.

Most recently i've been setting up a proper food preparation area.

Point of Interest: Enterance

( 304 Early Spring → 304 Mid Spring )

This courtyard serves as the entrance to my fort, as well as an area for outdoor workshops. It can be sealed off by the bridge near the trading depot, although any invaders with ranged weapons can fire in. - sneakeypete

Looking good, I like the layout and spacing of the rooms below the food depot, the gaps in the layers for small workshops, very compact and clear.

I also approve of the excavation of the cliff - a good way to designate a large block of stone to be removed without scarring the landscape.

Nicely done. I like the natural cave entrance look. Very dwarf-like.
