Towerclouted - 219 Early Summer by Quietust

Map Description:

Lots of stuff happened in the last 3 years.

King arrived, tapped adamantine, then released and killed HFS (SoFs killed by legendary marksdwarfs with zero dwarf injuries, just a few straw war dogs chained up to sniff out the demons).

Finished the siege engine rooms (though the outer fortifications are too close, causing interruption unless they come from across the brook), and dug out (and filled) an auxiliary water tank by my waterfall generator for quicker refilling (which it currently needs).

Dug an artifact vault next to my coin vault, sealed with an artifact raw adamantine floodgate (currently opened, linked to a lever built from an artifact chalk mechanism).

Shortened the magma channels beneath my forge workfloor (via bucket brigade to make obsidian right behind the floodgates) so I could widen the hallway for increased traffic to the mine shafts, and filled in the other channels in the process.

Also dug some more stockpile rooms (and reorganized some existing stockpiles), mined out a bunch more lignite (and patched walls where necessary), built another archery range (mostly unused), smoothed a bunch of walls, and cleared away tons of rocks (mainly from my noble quarters, giving them more floor space to store their stuff).

Current project is enlarging all normal quarters from 1x4 to 1x5, removing stray rocks, and making sure everybody has at least 2 chests and cabinets so they'll gather up all of the loose coins and items strewn about the fortress.

The problem isn't really the economy, it's the coins, and you can have one without the other (dwarves will just use credit cards if there is no currency)

I actually solved the coin problem a few days ago through some modding - I melted down all of my gold/silver/copper items (replaced the silver chains in my prison with black bronze, replaced my guards' silver swords with bismuth bronze, and relocated some of my zoo creatures out of 4 gold cages), paved a few hallways with floors using all of the remaining bars, then set their boiling points to 10000 and watched every single coin boil away in an instant (plus about a hundred silver crafts; a few were masterwork, but everyone's still ecstatic).

Some might call this cheating, but I'm justifying it in the name of lag reduction - my framerate has since risen to 30fps with temperature off (with it on, it's still unplayable at around 13-14).

It must have been fairy gold if its all boiled away.
