'New fortress attempt.. because I got bored. Anyway, a few variations on my standard central column - for one, the central column is smaller now, in its staircase, but incorporates a secure ramp-way for wagons.
Thus far all that's dug is roughly half the column, and the rough shape of the farming areas that'll form the upper part of the fortress - and will soon be temporary storage space.
The fort design will probably be quite deep-running, with farms up top, with residences below, and then the first cave system. After that, military and minor industry, and then after the next cavern system, heavy industry.
The central column that will form the hub of the fortress. Surrounding it, the space 'will eventually be given over to farms, arranged in a corkscrew pattern. Only moderately space-efficient, but.. fun. - Fensfield
