Keskal- Scratchwheels - 1054 Early Winter by Jetsetlemming

Map Description:

Uh oh... I wasn't expecting them this close!
Hosus quickly fled the chamber and raised the drawbridges, and as the new year rolled over and Keskal reached year four, demons emerged. They destroyed the two inner drawbridges, something I had no idea they could accomplish, but ignored the third and final one, the one seperating them from hosus and the rest of the fortress, and apparently fought amongst themselves. Four demon corpses were lying on the ground before Hosus found his way over and lowered the drawbridge, a command I issued back when we had three drawbridges that covered the entire chamber and only one apparent demon in the room.

That first demon out the door injured hosus, who turned tail and fled, as he was still a civilian. The cat came to his defence in the magmafront area, and while it injured the Spirit of Fire that was attacking, it quickly fell. Enraged, I turned Hosus into a soldier. He changed classes to a wrestler and charged back to the demon, surprising it, and ripping it in two, killing it. However, he recieved yellow damage to a few internal organs, and stood there over his kill, flashing a red cross symbol. Two more demons emerged from the pits, two Frog demons. Hosus managed to kill one, further sustaining serious injury, but just couldn't take a third. :( In Early Spring, 1055, Hosus and his cat were slain by demons, and Keskal was no more.

Eh Hosus, that's not a cat, that's a fricking mountain lion! O.o

Hey Jetsetlemming, try adding [ link=http://someurl]link text[/link] or [ img=http://someurl]img text[/img] in your post to make it easier to view those screenshots. Good detail by the way, and good luck with your next fort.

I'll edit the posts with images (I think I made one other besides this one) with that, thanks. I fully intend to reclaim this one, if for nothing more than to give Hosus a proper burial and kill the last demons.

Well. I tried to upload the next map, but it says that is about 4 KB over a maximum map size. O_o;
I've cleaned up the fortress, killing all the monsters around, including 2 demons (there was a total of 8, then), and set all my dwarves back to civilians and am trying to get them to clean up. They don't really seem to want to pick up mining picks or axes, oddly enough. Ah well....
I'm a firm believer in the few rather than the many thanks to Hosus.

How big is the map you tried to upload Jetsetlemming? Can you check the the bitmap, is it corrupted anywhere? Did you receive a warning from the map compressor about there being too many tiles?

Viewer Controls

g

SHIFT + Key doubles keyboard scroll rate.

Problems?

Do you only see a blank space?

Don't have Flash?
You can download the compressed map file: local_map-16-1054-32574.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
