Dwarven ingenuity or dwarven folly? Capturing in wooden cages what the ancients sealed away with adamantine.
Mind = Blown
Possibly the best invention ever to fall to Dwarven kind...
I tip my beard to you
Wow. Just wow. Good show suh!
What'll you do with the demons?
Truthfully, I hadn't thought that far ahead. First it was important to ascertain whether they could be captured. With that proven we can now all bend our minds to practical uses for them, even if it is just a zoo that will eventually doom your fortress. I have some more HFS experiments in mind and if there's anything interesting I'll post more videos.
I think the bug that caused this is fixed. The one that causes unconscious people to always trigger traps
Very cool. Not to mention callous for sacrificing all those dogs!
Hishan: Unconscious people triggering traps still happens, and is not a bug. I there was a bug about dwarves deciding to sleep on traps that was fixed recently, so you probably remembered incorrectly.
Excellent work my friend.
Oh, very well done sir. I wonder if you can train demons?
Also, I'll have to try this soon, not sure if it was done with 40d but thats what I'll be using. For the sake of my dwarves I hope it works.
I am one of the new players that came in on TinyPirate's tutorials. I can see what happened when the final level was pulled - the single support was taken out, and the roof collapsed on the demons. Awesome.
What was going on before then? There seemed to be a lot of movement and lever-pulling that I couldn't figure out.
Tame them, and breed them if possible, you'll be invincible!
Sorry Gumby, it's been a long time since I stopped by here as I haven't been playing DF for a while (awaiting the next version). The 1st lever raised the drawbridge situated on the tiles just above the shared animal cage (you'll see it change just before the first door is destroyed). It's important you use a drawbridge to contain the demons in the trap room as they'll break through anything else (other than a constructed wall but good luck timing that). The 2nd lever released the commando puppies and kittens to lure the demons further into the room. If you don't have bait the demons tend to stop as soon as there is no path available to something they can hurt, ie once you raise the drawbridge. The 3rd lever was meant to raise the second drawbridge that was just after the line of destroyed doors so that the demons would be completely contained before the ceiling drop. It failed to work (probably because demons were standing on it) and I wasted some movie time waiting for it to raise. Once I realized it wasn't going to work I flicked the red lever and you know what that one did.
"And to your right, emissary of the humans, is a collection of demons we managed to seal off in cages"
"Wait, WHAT IN THE WHAT?!"
What about those three that didn't get caged?
PS: I'd do the same thing with adamantine cages, just to make it cooler.
You mean the three tiles that flip back and forth between the cage and demon symbols? Those are captured demons -- Drunken_Gun scrolls over two of them around 5:38, and the third at 5:52. My guess is that those three tiles have empty cage traps underneath instead of loaded ones.
Yes, correct. All the visible demons had been either trapped in cages or killed by the collapse. There were likely more left undetected in the hallway and pits outside of the unveiling dust cloud.
