You can't trap SoF in cages by dropping a ceiling on them as you can with other demons. This video also demonstartes how ineffective water is as a way of combating them. And yes, they will melt steel.
Its ineffective because the steel cages have a melting temperature lower than the body temperature of a spirit of fire. I think adamantine cages should work fine for the task.
