I'm not sure what happened. I was busy overseeing the building of a temple on the other side of the map when I got the message that my trader had bled to death. Having no idea how he could have bled to death in the trading depot I zoomed in, only to find a confusing mess of blood and fire. I hope someone else can make sense of this.

I suspect a fire imp, fire snake or some other magma critter set fire to a visiting caravan, though that doesn't explain the sea of blood...

At 0:23 we see "boiling sewer brew" -- the booze isn't even finished, it's still exploding. If you ordered lots of drink that could be what converted everything nearby into a bloody mist.
