I have constructed a two-level sewer system for draining the local lakes. They will eventually stretch to reach all the major lakes in the ground area, and hopefully the lakes on the upper Z-levels as well. Additionally, once the magma moat is built around the entrance to the fort, the sewers will connect a series of outdoor buildings and stone stockpiles for my catapult defenses. The drawback is that any invading force successful enough to penetrate the outer moat will have an underground access pass to my fort. Most likely, this scenario will be thwarted by various traps.
