Still a solid mass, the spire was carved out of a natural formation by our gifted miners when they were cutting the cliff face to a sheer wall. The spire is 25 stories tall and will house the grand dining hall on the ground level. - martin

Utter awesomeness, I must say. I'm especially keen on the pond with the statue in the middle. The barn is also nice. Well done.

Man, looking fine. You have serious points in the style category. I especially enjoy the assorted creatures sitting outside the barn.

Δ 15. Barn
The partially completed barn has breeding pens for a variety of animals. The 2nd floor will house kennels and a butcher shop, with storage on the 3rd. Expected to be completed by years end.

Off to the east is the fishery with protected access to a natural pond fed by the nearby brook. - martin
Δ 15. Church

The first building dug out and still serving as storage/housing, the church will ultimately seat over 100 dwarves and allow dwarves to pay their respects to the elements that have permitted them this fine settlement. The artifact green glass hatch cover allows the red glow of magma to shine up. Catacombs are below. - martin
Δ 15. East Gatehouse
A small gatehouse to fend off small assaults. Archery range behind. Much of the space above and in below storage rooms store the debris left behind by attackers. - martin

We were fortunate to find 3 sand layers in the center of the town allowing both aboveground and underground crops. Barrel storage is currently on the roof and surrounding buildings but a basement will be added for that.

Δ 15. Housing
Hewn from solid stone like the workshops, these walk-up apartments will comfortably house our entire population. Though sparsely furnished now, soon our legendary masons will craft fine items to make lives more comfortable. The sheer wall behind is over 10 stories and can be carved into if needed. - martin
Δ 15. Inner Gatehouse and Pool
The inner gatehouse will be the primary defensive point when finished. A taste of the inner walls can be seen to the lower-right. The pool will be filled once the moat is filled in, the central statue just completed this month. - martin
Δ 15. North Gatehouse
Still under construction, the north gatehouse will allow the settlement to control the flow of attackers during more significant attacks. The structure is done, but no drawbridge or defenses. - martin
¶ 15. Overview
An overview of the Westlash settlement. Sheer walls rising as high as 25 stories protect the settlement from invaders from the west and south, a moat and simple wall give some protection from the north and east. Plenty of trees, water, sand, and stone. A rough outline of where the settlement will expand next. - martin

Δ 15. Workshops
Situated on the south side of the town, the workshops are hewn out of solid stone (and considered safe underground areas during attack.) Another block has yet to be dug out. - martin
Δ 14. Water distribution

Fed from the nearby brook, the water delivery system will allow wells to spring up all around town. Well segmented with control rooms and floodgates and fully rewalled with diorite, this should be immune to tower cap growth should we get seeds from an underground river (which some believe may be located under the mountain) - martin
