Metalgate - 111 Late Spring by Sinergistic

Map Description:

Currently in the process of draining the magmaduct (like aqueduct, but with mamga!) that I used to fill the lampposts that line the bridge.

Not sure what I want to do next, kinda lost direction with this project. Figured I'd upload it for now.

Running rather low on food, since my farmers (who double as masons) got trapped behind some constructions and almost died.

Edit: Updated title to the proper name, dunno why it was set as region1 :/

Point of Interest: The (double) Pumpstack

( 111 Late Spring → 119 Early Spring )

This is my rather power hungry double pump stack, it rises 38 levels into the air, delivering magma to my various projects involving it.

I've found that turning it on, and keeping the floodgate at the top closed, creates an effect kind of like pressurized water.

With the top floodgate closed, the entire stack quickly fills to the brim with 7/7 magma x2 on each level (See the POI for what I mean, each level has 7/7 magma x2 in it).

When you open the top floodgate, since pumps work almost instantly, all the magma in the tower (7/7 x2 x38) is practically teleported to the top of the tower, and out into whatever duct I have built at the time.

This, I think, has been the cause behind several incidents in which I had magma go places it shouldn't have gone, almost incinerating several unlucky dwarfs (they got out of the way fast enough though).

Demolished as of year 124. - Sinergistic

That is the most amazing bridge i have ever seen. Pumping magma all the way up there and making lamp posts just kills it.
(3Dwarf pics maybe?)

A BBCode picture

It's incomplete, this is a screenshot from an earlier save. I'm playing in 40d9, and in order to get tools like 3dwarf to work properly, I have to copy the save over to a 40d game folder, which is more of a pain than you think it would be.

Your new underground levels look awesome especially with your tileset.

I still can't get over how awesome your bridge looks in 3dwarf

Really though, this is quite amazing.

A very unique structure.

Loving that bridge; I'm tentatively planing to copy your support style for the entrance ramp on my current fort. The designs for the lower levels are also pretty amazing...

... Wow. That's really all I can say. Basically every part of your fortress is art to me. I'm envious of your creativity and I hope you keep pumpin' out the beauty. Good luck.

Oh My! I *AM* a noob i admit, but Dang!! Some of you peeps are just truly Amazing! I finally can survive even rough starts in untamed wilds with constant ambushes and sieges. As for building a fort, well i though i was getting the hang of it. Now that i have seen a truly amazing fort, i realize i have a very long long ways to go yet.

So, that "perpetual motion" machine is slowly losing water, huh? Sounds more like you made a water-fueled fusion reactor. Congratulations.
