Lancerworked - 144 Early Autumn by sonerohi

Map Description:

My precious baby, wrought from a site with nearly every feature, it lacks only a magma pool. I had a fort with a pit entrance before, but with this one I took it to a new level.

Point of Interest: Spot 7: Principal forges, metal stocks, and barracks.

The north room currently houses the 31 living dwarves, with two of my swordsmen sparring and a miner recovering from a fight with a Giant Cave Spider that attacked him at Spot 6 when he ran into its web. He valiantly slayed the beast but not before it broke his leg. Built in a section of black sand, the forges fashioned him a new pick from gleaming steel, and it sits in the armor in the south. Hey Lego, just wait till you see the end of my term. Also, hope noone minds that I removed cave-adaption for this. I frickin hate seeing a fort begin to look like some funky-ass christmas tree with vomit everywhere.

Hate to be a party pooper, but weapon traps won't work on HFS. Upright spike traps might work, if you can find something that doesn't melt on contact with SoF. Even raw Adamantine melts from those baddies.

Δ 17. Spot 10: The grand storerooms and farms!
Currently provides all the storage space this fort could ever need, with the large majority of rocks that exist in this fort being located in the room to the left. As the rock is slowly turned into crafts and furniture and mechanisms, more stock designations shall be placed there to accomadate what will, by then, be a burgeoning amount of supplies. - sonerohi
Δ 16. Spot 3: The beginning section of the trade road
The traders or invaders must use the bridges on the level above to get here from the depot. Then, they must go down a level and cross the pit again. After that, it's up into the workshops, and up into the forges and barrackes area. A final crossing of the pit, across the brook and to the spike traps we shall go. The process of leaving is described here, and to enter one must pass the spikes first, which is quite the feat, and then face Spot 4... - sonerohi

My four swordsdwarves each have a nook to stand gaurd in to watch for marauding orcs and goblins. A siege was recently cut down nearby. - sonerohi

Many steel spikes that took me four years to acquire all of them. Unfortunately, I've only been keeping this fort alive by the tip of its beard and as such don't have any spikes hooked up... yet... - sonerohi
Δ 15. Spot 9: A somber note...
This statue is a memorial to the 2 stoneworkers and 1 miner who lost their lives to build this fort. They were all committed to the chasmy depths in a cave-in during the building of the bridge system. May they rest in eternal peace, in the heart of the earth with all the old grey-beards. - sonerohi
Δ 14. Spot 2: Hub wheel
My leaders office with windows, looking out into the forts lake. Housing is being worked on around the area, and to the north-east and south-est are stairs that are the roundabout way to my forts meeting hall. - sonerohi
Δ 13. Spot 6: A close call!
That wall segment saved a dwarf (who is recovering at spot 7) from certain death. There was an un-floored section at this spot on the level above, and the flooding water surely would have swept my wounded dwarf (who was sitting on that tile right inbetween the bucket and wall) into the pits and there he'd surely die. - sonerohi
Δ 12. Spot 8: HFS *spoilers*
This is where our prospecter believes the ancient pits of legend to be buried. Every gleaming strand of adamantine shall be tempered with silver and steel to create Silvithril, the metal that makes a king into a God. - sonerohi
