Wasprag - 36 Early Spring by Quietust

Map Description:

The 6th year of Wasprag begins.

In only 5 years, I've gotten 150 immigrants, including all of the nobles, and the King will arrive as soon as I make enough offerings (which I probably won't be doing).

Most of the industries have been set up, though some haven't really been started yet.

The underground river has been located, and a tower-cap has already started sprouting in my unoccupied barracks (currently have only 6 Marksdwarves in training, haven't yet recruited any guards or assigned a Captain). A large (48x96) tower-cap farm is currently being dug out, and I'm planning to extend the river significantly to flow past my fortress and alongside the tower-cap farm before draining back into its original chasm; a cave-in will be employed to seal the river's original path once it has been extended.

A passage toward the bottomless pit is scheduled for digging; hopefully, it'll be on the same level where the giant cave spider lives (given that there's lots of bones and no other visible creatures, it's pretty likely that's where it is). Once captured, it will be tamed and placed into a silk farm. The chasm appears to be completely devoid of cave spiders, though I'm hoping the underground river might be more fruitful.

The economy has been switched off, which will hopefully give me a bit more breathing room as I get things set up.

Point of Interest: Suicide Booth

( 36 Early Spring → onwards )

Should any dwarf become unruly, simply order the dwarf to pull this lever (using the workshop profile to ensure the correct dwarf uses it). Initially built as a contingency for an early Mayor with a preference for crystal glass, it proved to be unnecessary and remained unused until the year 70. - Quietust

Holy crap thats cool. How are you gonna get all that magma there? construct a big pumping tower?

I'll build a pump tower extending all the way to the top of the map, then direct its output into a tube that goes down to ground level, through a short tunnel, and into an opening at the bottom of the pyramid. Pump pressure should allow it to fill all the way to the top.

That's a fantastic fortress. Do the fortifications in the tower cap farm actually drain water?

Absolutely - in fact, that's exactly why I built them.
