Scorchedhammer - 198 Early Spring by burnedfx

Map Description:

A desert fortress on the edge of the world. My longest lived and largest fortress to date.

The dwarves had to survive with no native wood to speak of, not to mention the many goblin sieges, two titan and three dragon attacks.

Scorchedhammer also faced an onslaught of dirty elves who claimed we were cutting down too many trees.

Rant:

Lying elves, there are no trees on the map!

In the end, the elves would be thrown into the dungeons with the goblins, before facing the arena, dragon pit or locked in the mines with the demons.

However, one elven siege, chose the wrong moment to attack. . .

Point of Interest: Fishing Workshops

Located near the entrance to the Mines and the control room for the dam. - burnedfx

I enjoy this fort a lot. It's aesthetically really nice, esp. the waterfall and such. Did you change your colour scheme from the default?

Thanks Retro!

I used the color scheme from the wiki called "Another natural scheme" and also edited the foreground color of the sky to "1", which is separate from the color scheme itself.

The full thing looks like this:[SKY:178:1:0:0]

"There are no trees, ergo you dwarves chopped them all down?" WAR

Destroy them all!

Definitely an excuse to wage war on the elves, not that the dwarves needed one.

According to the wiki, their threats were based on the quota of wood in my stockpiles, no matter the source (tower-cap or traded).

Unreasonable bastards.

Hey, this is Plac1d's graphics set isn't it?

I'm a big fan of his work myself, but what tileset and resolution are you using?

Hey Coal,

Yes, it is Plac1d's. I love his graphic set as well, although I've gone and "squished it" by using a square tileset, specifically Anikki's 20x20. Oops!

I like the little stories built into your fortress, like the dead-end prison escape tunnel. Also this map just makes me miss cave rivers, I hope Toady adds them in again soon.

You can download the compressed map file: 2009-11/burnedfx-Scorchedhammer-Desert-198-1718.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
