I've figured out that the fort was founded in 82, and it's 92 now - and as it's almost 6th Felsite, the date that mining started in 86, it's both the 10-year anniversary and the 6th year since the mining started. ...A lot has happened since then (understatement). Hoo boy.
The fort is vaguely starting to look like how I ultimately want it to. Currently my favourite parts of the fort are Engineering and the DM's dungeon. I really had fun with them.
Do take a look around, I've been pretty busy.
Sadly, the last few years (which, at 5ish FPS, have played out sloooowly) have resulted in the most deaths I've had. My favourite miner, and one of the original seven, was frozen in ice while exacavating the moat through the aquifer in the winter (he was level 58 in mining according to DC), along with another one frozen, one suffocating after falling during a cave-in and not getting over his throat damage, and one mysterious death I've still yet to understand, listed in a POI.
Other random info: Of the fort's currently population, all but eight dwarfs are married - there's three single guys and five single girls, so along with the fort's single child (girl) born before we hit popcap, there will eventually be only three single dwarfs.
I've begun the incredible task of designating the rest of the cavern for mining, but haven't included it on the map. It's kind of difficult to carve out stalactites, especially when you need to fit equal amounts of living space into them as they get thicker and thicker. Should look awesome when done, though.
Phew. That should do it for another couple years. Okay, POI time.
It's starting to shape up pretty nicely, though VF is still showing it as rock-looking, which is annoying. I'm still considering paving roads across it along with a stream, but I won't be getting to it anytime soon. Besides, I've got traffic orders letting the dwarves trample a path that should show up nicely while the non-trampled area grows out. - Retro
