Got a little wave of nostalgia the other day, so I went back and uploaded my very first fortress, Diamondseizures. It ended up being surprisingly successful, and also had the best randomly generated name I've found yet. I don't think I've touched it since June or July.
I advise you to check out the Goblin Run POIs. They're the closest thing to a megaproject this fort had.
Six z-levels of this in the center of the fort. I later started adding floating dining chambers, but got lazy and never finished. - Retro

Love the firey miner mural; a blazing work of art.

So does the Goblin Run work? Any chance you could upload a video of it in action?

It... sort of works. Hooking up all the repeaters to all the different bridges and spike traps and whatnot was taking godsdamned forever, so I gave up on that. Currently the goblins run straight through the labyrinth, across the magma largely unassailed by the lazy marksdwarves, stand around while the eagles ignore them, run across the incomplete bridge/spike room, and then generally outrun the flooding room. The whole process takes like half an hour, so no, I won't be taking a video, but I tried it out a few times and it was kind of disappointing anyways. Needs way more micromanagement than I have time for to hook everything up.
