After abandoning Stormcraft because the military went berserk, a new team set out to the mountains of The Permanent Towers to form a new mountainhome. Already by Late Spring the farms are planted, and construction is underway for a perimeter wall to defend against foes.

To keep track of all the goods, and stop messy piles forming in corridors and cluttering workshops, stockpile land has space for everything. Its a bit of a sorting game for the dwarves, but keeps things in their place and means things get moved when they need to be moved. - Markavian

Hope this does better then Stormcraft. :p
When you strike a cavern, what are you going to do with it?

When I hit the caverns... I'm going to trap the hell of it it (cages, spinning blades), and send in heavily armoured recruits on patrols...
I'll set up a new perimeter, and then dig downwards, down further this time...

Also, If you strike HFS, it doesn't matter if you block them or not, they will RUIN your FPS.

I was looking at "The Staircase", and it came to me: Cage Traps!!!
I was so used to ignoring them as "making the game too easy" in 40d, that I completely forgot about this alternative in protecting the route into the underworld now that my military is not so godly anymore.
