I dug too deep, I wasn't overwhelmed, everything was still sealed well enough, but the FPS was just too low to continue. RIP, Gilddesert, the biggest, most longest lasting fort I've ever made.
Those fortification-rooms never were any use, but they made a nice little passageway for traps. Defenses consist of two individually controlled bridges, one retracting and one raising, and a mixture of stone, cage and weapon traps. To the right you can see the prisoner-disposal room and empty cage storage. The bridge in there raises, but I couldn't get marksdwarves to shoot through fortifications reliably so it's rarely used. - Visi
