  Constantly manned by at least 5 dwarves. The battlements below are also constantly manned. These dwarves form the "watch" - tyrspawn

  This main barracks houses the majority of the fort's security force, including 3 mixed squads and 4 smaller squads of "watchmen" who constantly patrol the defenses.
  
  It is exposed to the sun so the dwarf defenders do not become cave adapted and thus combat ineffective. - tyrspawn

  This is a garbage chute leading down 20 z levels or so to magma below. Was created mainly to deal with the massive piles of goblinite which were piling up in my entrance from siege attempts. - tyrspawn

  The caverns below are divided into a series of secure routes, complete with locked doors, guard dogs and tunnel systems with food and rest stations along the way.
  
  Before this was in place ,random attempts and infiltrations were common. The most common intruders were Gorlaks, Gremlins and Giant Rats. These routes have saved dozens of dwarves from forgotten beasts as well. - tyrspawn

  Filled with masterwork engravings, slabs to honor the first fallen, statues of the gods - this serves as the Duchess' dining room, throne room and the court area. - tyrspawn

  Contains massive stacks of stone, before 137 was a refuse dump - eventually replaced by the garbage chute of fury. - tyrspawn

  Deep in the underworld are here the smelters and forges powered by magma. Building these fixtures greatly improved the production of metal weaponry and armor in the fort and allowed for the rapid construction of the royal iron roads. It also enabled switching from primarily bone ammunition for the army to iron bolts. - tyrspawn

• 49. The Worst Post in the Dwarven Military

  ( 132 Late Summer to onwards )
  This is the worst place you can be posted in the fort's military. The underworld barracks is designed as a buffer against the dangers of the caverns below. The soldiers here are cave dweller types who can no longer tolerate the sun. They are the lame or unskilled - and the squad is lead by the Captain of the Guard. - tyrspawn
