Constructleaders - 1053 Early Spring by msallen

Map Description:

One more year down and I've enjoyed this game more than any so far. My military has been far more aggressive, and I've had to deal with the challenges of foul blendecs and a goblin ambush. I suspect both would have done a good deal of damage if it weren't for traders being in town when they occured. But I've boosted my fortifications and my military and hopefully the future attacks will go much smoother. I did lose a few dwarves though... most regretably my legenday herbalist, who was also a skilled brewer and cook and responsible for tremendous food output. On the up side, however, I've had plenty of bones to make bolts to train my archers...

Point of Interest: dining room

While it is sort of satisfying to have a fort carved into 95% white stone, it was getting a little boring. I think these yellow statues make the place a little more friendly. Don't you? - msallen

Δ 20. fortifications
Considerably fortifications have increased the defensibility of my fortress substantially. This is, and will remain, the only entrance to my fort. The upper levels of the central tower also contain the training facillities for my 8-dwarf army so they are usually nearby in case of attack. - msallen

This significant and relatively nearby ore deposit is fueling my steel production quite nicely. My smelter is a little slow still and seems to party too much, which is currently my only holdup. - msallen
Δ 14. giant spider ambush!
I dropped down into the chasm to kill some rat men and get at an ore vein. Since I've never done this before, I figured it would be easy pickins. I didn't expect a giant spider ambush. Fortunately for me, the spider itself spawned on a ledge that was disconnected from the ledge I was on. So my woefully undertrained archers simply picked the baddy off from afar slowly, and when he died I mined over to him and harvested his body and sweet webs for clothes. - msallen
Δ 14. tombs
These are my burial chambers, which aren't particularly notable except that they have been engraved. There are three dwarves here: a wrestler that was killed by goblins, my legendary herbalist killed by foul blendecs, and a glassmaker that was taken by a mood and locked in his bedroom until he starved to death. This is the only part of my fortress that has not been cleared of rubble... simply because its not particularly necessary here. - msallen
