Shieldgears - 1052 Early Summer by Markavian

Map Description:

Summer of the second year, already had three waves of migrants, one in the summer of the first year, one in autumn, and another this summer. Food and alcohol production is steady with a mix between plant gathering and a few small farms. Humans and elves have been to trade so far, I don't remember the dwarves coming to trade though.

No real direction for the fort yet, many a tree have been felled, more out of spite then use, though charcoal and ash have been made, and the initial set of buildings have been crafted out of wood (all temporary lodgings). The only cave room built is a dining hall where many of the citizens hang around chatting. Still haven't decided on a place for bedrooms.

The major construction of the fort so far appears to be the large square pit, from which a great quantity of stone is being excavated and placed into storage. It may be a while before I begin proper fortress constructions, I hope I avoid attack before then.

Point of Interest: Dining hall

( 1052 Early Summer → onwards )

Probably the smallest, legendary, dining hall I've ever constructed. Dug out of solid obsidian, and featuring matching obsidian chairs and tables, the room is only engraved around its edge, but still pleases the dwarves no end. The room was originally built as a lead-in to the staircase that provides access to the surface. - Markavian

What character set/title set and color theme you using?

Hey AcidWeb, I'm using a mix between my own tileset and Sphr's graphics - you can download it from the list of user graphic sets page on the wiki.

I love the Big Square Quarry. Proper dwarf. :)

Beautiful lake you have going there.

Infact, beautiful all around.

It looks very peaceful, too. No rotting goblin corpses, no menacing walls or traps.

Wow. What a very nice planned out fortress you have got there. I think I might favorite it.

I rather enjoy this fortress. Waiting to see the dome completed too!

...I had never thought of making a dome.

I may have to try that, someday.

Amazing, this is by far my favorite fort so far. Great engineering feats as well as beauty.

I love this kind of fortress; with "this kind" I intend those fortress who look like they're from a plausible fantasy world: every building seems like it's carefully projected in all its details and shape.
I love this map, and I hope to see updates in the future!

p.s. wouldn't it be nice to make somekind of repository for "believable and detailed fortresses"
