Gearwall - 1053 Early Spring by Analfish

Map Description:

The dam is coming along nicely now, I have half of my farms set up. I modded the plants to grow only for one season and set their cluster size to 2 instead of 5 which is why I will need so much farm space. The houses are almost done being set up, gotta get the outer wall finished.

Point of Interest: Generator Room

This room generates 2400 units of power from 24 water wheels. The water falls from the surface level of the lake into the tubes where it is funneled out the bottom moving the wheels - Analfish

Errr. Wow. What exactly am I looking at?
Looks like a power generation facility, puts my efforts to shame : )

Ahh, I see now... if you want to control the flow of water from the floodgates you should install water pumps, these should block the pressure and flow of water horizontally, and then lift water out of a pit/channel just below.

By the way if anyone has any suggestions on what to do with all this power generated by the dam, I'm open to suggestions.

well, let me just say this:
Thank you. Someone else shares my desire to create massive engineering projects that really aren't necessary.

Right then... As for what to do?
Well I'm sure your vast fortress could use some inner canals/waterways/artificial waterfalls/water gardens. Pump the water from the base, all the way up and into the fortress.

You can download the compressed map file: 2008-05/analfish-Gearwall-region1-1053-1933.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
