Thinboards - 1062 Early Winter by Lunval Vici

Map Description:

My first fortress. A solid week's research went into the initial design but I had to abandon many of the original design ideas when confronted with the mountainous reality of dwarfen proportions.

Still, 10 years of research will not go to waste.

Point of Interest: Cunning Trap of Drowning Surprise: Main Floor

Born out of necessity since I got tired of sorting out the blood stained loot for those morally misguided elves.

During sieges I order everyone inside, open the four doors into the fortress and trap and when the enemy is about 2/3 into the trap I order the lever pull so they are trapped. Inside the trap, outside the fortress.

Δ 21. Cunning Trap of Drowning Surprise: Reservoir
This would be full of water when the lever is pulled. The Lever is connected to the Floodgates. The water drowns the enemy leaving no blood splatter. If those elves only knew the trouble I went through...

I added this space below the main floor when I realized that the legions of soon-to-be-dead foes were sometimes too many for the main floor to dispose of quickly. On the floor above you can see the dwarfes busy constructing one big trap floor. The plan was to have one lever open up all of the hatches at once, letting the drowned ones into this chamber of Floating Death so I could let the next batch quickly into the main trap.

I won't however finish this design since I went a bit mad when it came to assigning the levers to the hatches - I'll do it when Toady implements a quicker way. - Lunval Vici
