Yeah, a lot of people seem to be more focused making their fortress as functional as possible, engraving everything and giving everyone 1x3 rooms. That's fine, I guess, but they're not very fun to look at.
I had a problem with food in my current fortress. My little farm wasn't producing fast enough and for some reason fishing wasn't getting me anything. I had to convert several dwarves into hunters to get a decent supply of food. Just goes to show that not all areas produce resources at the same rate.

I like my dwarves to live in luxury. Needless to say I never have many problems with tantrum spirals.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember that stuff being mudstone. Gives the place a more rugged feel I think.
