That looks like a serious infestation problem you've got there... I assume there was someone left alive because you took a picture... but it sure looks like a lot of dead dwarfs to me.
As convenient as having your animals in the Lava pool sounds, the two POI's work fine for me and are in completely different spots :).
Because that's what most people know of hammers. Nice fort :)
Love the Wall buttressing thing going on there, it's a motif I often use myself :)
